June G. Teich-Cameron, 94, resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Hummelstown, passed away early Thursday morning at Homewood.
She was born in Hibbing, MN, daughter of the late Emil and Elsie (Puttika) Hendrickson. June was married to M. Wally Fisher, Dr. Kenneth W. Teich and Sam Cameron, all of whom preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Phillip Teich of Los Angeles, CA; a daughter, Diane Murray (Jack) of Hollidaysburg; 2 step-daughters: Terry Teich-Walters (Mark) of Duluth, MN and Claudia Oltvedt of Minneapolis, MN; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Nelson.
June was a 1939 graduate of Hibbing High School, MN, and then received her B.S.N. in nursing from the University of Minnesota. Later in her life, June went back to school and received her Physicians Assistant Degree from Penn State Hershey.
She had been employed as the Assistant Director of Nursing for the University of Chicago Hospital, served as a public school nurse in Duluth, MN, and also had taught nursing at St. Scholastica School of Nursing in Duluth, MN.
June was a United States Army Nurse serving during WWII, state side in a St. Louis hospital, taking care of returning soldiers.
She was a member of the League of Women Voters, and had been involved in family planning and different public health organizations.
June loved playing bridge and enjoyed art and painting. She was a strong advocate of education for her children and grandchildren, making sure they succeeded in their lives.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 am memorial service, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Homewood at Martinsburg Chapel, Rev. Jerry McCuller Jr. officiating. Private inurnment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in the spring or early summer.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Ave., Hershey, PA 17033.
