Kay Elizabeth (Creamer) Ormsby, 78, resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove formerly of W. Allegheny Street, Martinsburg, passed away late Saturday at the Village following an extended illness.

She was born in Frankstown, daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth (Bice) Creamer.  On November 15, 1958 she married John E. Ormsby in Martinsburg.  He preceded her in death on January 2, 1998.

Surviving are her son, Craig E. Ormsby (Nina) of rural Martinsburg; 2 granddaughters: Sarah Streit (Davis) of Aspinwall and Anna at home; a sister, Helen Creamer of Hollidaysburg; 2 brothers: George Creamer of Hollidaysburg and Robert “Bob” Creamer of Altoona; and also numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: William R. and John “Jack” Creamer; 4 half-sisters: Dorothy Warner, Helen Louise Caldwell, Dorothy “Dottie” Burket and Joan Creamer, by whom she was raised; and 2 half-brothers: Raymond Creamer Jr. and Wayne Goshorn.

Kay was a 1955 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.  She was a longtime member of the Martinsburg United Methodist Church, until its closure and consolidation with the Woodbury United Methodist Church, and later became a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Martinsburg.  She was also a life- time member of the D. Merl Tipton VFW Post 43 Ladies Auxiliary, Martinsburg.

She retired as a quality inspector and “bundle girl” from Quality Manufacturing, Martinsburg with 25 years of service.  Kay greatly enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie of her co-workers.  She had also been employed at Veeder-Root, Duncansville, The Lingerie Store and Murphy’s both in Hollidaysburg and picked apples for many years at the Ore Hill Orchards.

Her granddaughters were her pride and joy and they will greatly miss their “Mimi” as she was an important part of their family.  She loved cheering them on in their volleyball and academic pursuits.  Kay also enjoyed going to yard sales, bowling and making ceramics.

Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Thursday, October 27, 2016 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg and from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service, Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Martinsburg, with Pastor Mark Brown officiating.  Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
