Kevin M. Long, 59, rural Martinsburg, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday evening at his home.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of Betty Lou (Shaw) Long of Roaring Spring and the late, Max H. Long.  On June 15, 1985, he married Sharon K. Feather at Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Sharon of 31 years; 2 daughters: Kristin M. Gilbert (David) of Conroe, TX and Hillary N. Long at home; a sister, Amy Smith of rural Martinsburg; and 3 brothers: Michael of Huntingdon, Stephen of Newville and Scott of Spring Mills.

Kevin was a 1974 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg and a 1978 graduate of Juniata College, Huntingdon where he received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education.

He was a member of Bare Memorial Church of God, Roaring Spring, where he served as president of the church council, taught Sunday school and helped in various capacities.

Kevin taught school for a total of 30 years, with the last 17 being spent at the Hollidaysburg Area Junior High School, teaching science. In addition to teaching, he and his brother, Michael, owned and operated Long’s Painting Company.

He was a member of the Martinsburg Tennis Association and loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed fishing, golfing and reading.

Friends will be received from 2-5pm and 7-9 pm, Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Bare Memorial Church of God, Roaring Spring.  A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Monday, September 26, 2016 at the church, Pastor Mark Haliday officiating.  Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
