Larry Wayne Phillips, 60, of Altoona, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away unexpectedly late Monday, January 10, 2022 at his residence.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of Grace E. (Metzker) Phillips and the late Frederick E. Phillips.

Surviving are his mother, Grace E. Phillips of Martinsburg; three children: Amber E. Phillips of Altoona, Dustin F. Phillips (Samantha) of Williamsburg and Holly J. Bem of Philadelphia; a sister-in-law, Gabi M. Williams of Newburg; and seven grandchildren: Matthew Pearson, Billy Miller, Damien Miller, Kaitlyn Bem, McKenzie Bem, Nicholas Phillips and Aniyah Phillips.

Larry was preceded in death by a son, Christopher C. Phillips; and a brother, Allen E. Phillips.

He was a 1979 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg and was a former member of Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church.

Larry worked as a tack coat and dump truck driver for many years with the Teamsters Local Union (Heavy Highway Construction).  He was a member of the New Farmer’s Group, which was with many of his former high school classmates.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and also enjoyed playing poker, fishing and hunting.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30pm, Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 229 Cowboy Lane, Altoona, PA 16601 (Sinking Valley).  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.

Memorial contributions may be given to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
