Leland Warren Bond went to be with His Lord on April 2 at the age of 90. Surviving are his wife, Lettie, daughters, Laura (Joel) Sutton of Les Cayes, Haiti and Linda (Donald) Graffius of New Enterprise, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers; Richard, Thomas, Robert, and Ernest. Born May 1, 1925 to Orville B. and Lucille D. Bond, he grew up on a farm near Lost Creek, WV. During WWII he served in battle in the Navy as quartermaster on an LCI 975 in the South Pacific. He married Lettie McKinney on April 12, 1946. He obtained a BS at Salem College, Salem, WV and an MS in agricultural education from West Virginia University. Mr. Bond briefly served as a vocational agriculture teacher in Weston, WV. He then spent 28 year as a sales representative for American Cyanamid/Lederle Laboratories. He was also a member and Secretary of the Salem College Board of Trustees for 13 years. He was a lifelong member of the Lost Creek WV Seventh Day Baptist church, where he was an ordained deacon and served the church in many capacities. He served as President of the Clarksburg Christian Business Committee from 1960-1974.In 1968-69, he served as President of the Seventh Day Baptist General Conference, USA and Canada. Following his retirement from the business world in 1983, he served as a pastor for several churches in Florida. He was ordained as a minister by the Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist church in 1988. During his pastorate in Bradenton, FL he served as a chaplain for Hospice and President of the Board of Manatee Religious Services. He was a member of the “Senior Saints” working on construction projects for Seventh Day Baptist churches and camps throughout country. Friends will be received at the German Seventh Day Baptist Church on Tuesday April 5, 2016 from 5 to 7 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements through the S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home, Woodbury, PA. Friends will also be received at the Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist Church, Lost Creek, WV from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Wednesday April 6, 2015.
