LEORA E. KANODE



Leora Evelyn Kanode, 100, met Jesus February 24, 2013, at Messiah Village.

She was born October 12, 1912, to John and Cora (Feather) Kanode on a farm

near Roaring Spring, PA and lived many years in Martinsburg, PA.



She graduated from Morrison's Cove High School and attended Messiah College,

worked in private homes, served as a "Home Missionary" with the Brethren

in Christ Church in Detroit, MI and Blandburg, PA, assisted with church

work at Saxton, Woodbury and Eight Square Chapel. She was a lifelong member

of Martinsburg Brethren in Christ Church and since 1996 at Messiah Village Chapel.



Leora had a sweet, generous disposition and was known as a woman of prayer,

participating in a prayer group right up to her death. She loved her Saviour and

sought out ways to share His love. Sewing, quilting, scrapbook creations, reading,

poetry writing and music were her interests.



Survivors are her sister Ellen Brechbill's children: J.Albert Brechbill, Big Pool, MD;

Leola Herr, Mechanicsburg, OH; Faye Shelly, Mechanicsburg, PA; Charlotte

White, Guilford, CT; brother Jesse's wife Pauline, Sundance, WY; children:

Blanche Conom, Hudson, WI; Jean Madden, Sundance, WY; Jerry Kanode,

Moorcroft, WY; Claudette Wham, Hudson, CO; Floyd Kanode, Sundance, WY.



She was preceded in death by: sisters Ellen Brechbill and Elda Kanode; brother,

Jesse Kanode; nephew, Walter Kanode.



The funeral service will be held at Messiah Village Chapel at 11:00 AM, Friday,

March 1. Viewing and family visitation will be at Messiah Village Chapel from

10:00-11:00AM. Burial will be at 3:30 PM at Fairview Cemetary in Martinsburg, PA.

Memorial gifts may be given to Messiah Village Benevolent Fund, 100 Mt. Allen

Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
