Leroy F. “Red” Detwiler

Leroy F. “Red” Detwiler, 79, rural Williamsburg, passed away after battling several health issues, Tuesday morning, January 1, 2019 at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.

He was born in Williamsburg, son of the late Evelyn O. Detwiler.

Surviving are three daughters: Evelyn Weyant in Texas, Christine Smith (Jeffrey H. Snyder) of Hollidaysburg and Delsie Detwiler (Joe Chesney) of Williamsburg; a son, Roy Shuey of Huntingdon; four step-daughters: Dawn Mummert, Sharon Wagner, Georgette Weaver and Amanda Lynam; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Red was a lifelong resident of Williamsburg and a 1964 graduate of Vale Technical Institute, Blairsville. He retired as the owner and operator of Reds Car Care in rural Williamsburg and also from Raystown Transit, where he drove bus for the Williamsburg School District.

He was a member of Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg and the Blair County Antique Auto Club, where he sponsored the Williamsburg Car Show for 28 years.

Red will be remembered most for his love of old cars and driving a school bus.

Friends will be received from 1 until the 3pm memorial service, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.  Private interment will be held at Shellytown-Fairview Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be given to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
