Linda Ilene Chesney

Linda Ilene Chesney, 75, of rural Martinsburg, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, February 19, 2024, at her home.

She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of Leanore I. (Harr) Claar and the late, Robert E. Claar.  On July 15, 1967, she married Charles A. “Chuck” Chesney Jr. at the Smith Corner Mennonite Church.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Chuck of 56 years; her mother of East Freedom; a son, Richard T. Chesney (Chris) of Bakers Summit; two daughters: Jeanine A. Strittmatter (Frank) of Williamsburg and Charlotte A. Hill of Martinsburg; 15 grandchildren: Andrea Hill, Miranda Delozier, Amanda Cox, Lynna Reffner, Amber Hill, Tony Chesney, Joshua Fornwalt, Sierra Diehl, Mikayla Fornwalt, Cody Strittmatter, Shaylin Yoder, Kaley Strittmatter, Drew Hill and Alex Hill; 19 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and three sisters: Becky Bloom (Ted) of Brooks Mills, Sandy Davis (Gene) of Martinsburg and Debbie Smouse (Randy) of Roaring Spring.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Chesney.

Linda was a 1966 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg.  She was a longtime member of Smith Corner Church.

She assisted her husband, Chuck, with the daily operation of their dairy farm along Clover Creek.  Linda was also employed at Snowberger Meats, Martinsburg and for 15 years worked at Cove Shoe Factory in Martinsburg.

Linda loved spending time with her family, especially the many years she watched her grandchildren at their farm.  She also enjoyed going to yard sales, sewing and doing word puzzle books.

Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Friday, February 23, 2024, at Smith Corner Church and from 10 until the 11am, Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the church, where a funeral service will begin at 11am, Pastor David McClanahan officiating.  Private interment will be held Mooresville Cemetery, Huntingdon County.
