Lois May (Wildermuth) Querry

January 21, 1943 — March 26, 2015

The world is a bit less bright as we lost Lois May Querry, 72, of Martinsburg, on Thursday, March 26, 2015.
Lois was born January 21, 1943, the daughter of Walter W. and Lyla M. Sinnamon Wildermuth. Lois was a graduate of the Dixon School of Nursing at the Abington Memorial Hospital.   On April 22, 1967, she married John D. Querry in Philadelphia.  She worked at Homewood in Martinsburg.   The measure of person is not who they are but what they did. Lois’s commitment to the care of the residents and staff she served is a testament to the life she lived.  Lois was caring, compassionate, and tireless in her work.  Lois’s career took her from bedside to management, never changing her focus from the care of others. She retired as the Assist Director of Nursing.
Lois’s life beyond work was as equally energetic. She was a fantastic wife and mother.  She enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling with friends and family.  Her grandchildren were a passion. She loved them as much as they loved her.  Lois was a huge sport fan. She loved the Lions, Steelers and her March Madness bracket would rival any one.  Lois demonstrated her religious devotion as a member of the Clover Creek Church of the Brethren.
It is without saying that Lois was loved, respected and adored by her family.  She is survived by her husband, John,  sister Lynda, wife of Clyde Basham of Blue Belle, son Walter, husband of Gwen, of Everett; daughter Rebecca, wife of Bryan, of Catonsville, MD; and son Paul, husband of Nikki, of Hollidaysburg.  Her grandchildren Jessica, Kaitlyn, Grayson, Trent, Harris and Maurie were the light of her life and she loved to spend time with them.
A private burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Clover Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor Dave Bzanisak officiating at 2 pm on Saturday April 4th.  Friends will be received an hour before the service.
