Loreda “Lori” L. Eckert 87, of Martinsburg, formerly of Tyrone, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025 at the Village at Morrisons Cove. She was born in Roaring Spring, a daughter of the late Kenneth Ellsworth and Marjorie Mae (Pepple) Longenecker. On June 3, 1961 in Altoona, she married Dallas Earl Eckert who preceded her in death on April 26, 2025. She is survived by a niece: Kendra Napolitan; great-nephew Joshua Longenecker and his children Silas, Ellie, and Ezra; and Dave and Kyle Moore. She was preceded in death by a brother Frank Longenecker and wife Susan Jane (Kinser); and their son Kevin Lee Longenecker.
Lori was a 1956 graduate of Altoona High School, and was a bank teller for Keystone Financial, then Mid State Bank, and retired in 1998. She was actively involved in numerous organizations in and around the Tyrone Area. They included the Tyrone Community Players, Allegheny Corral, Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary, Tyrone-Snyder Public Library, and Bike/Hike for PARC. She was a first committee member for “Yule Tyme Tyrone”, member of Tyrone Zoning Board, Blair County Historical Society, Questers – Chief Logan Chapter, past member of the Women’s Club of Tyrone, life member of Beta Sigma Phi Society, former board of director for Tyrone Chamber of Commerce, founder and board member for Tyrone Area Historical Society, and was an active and former member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Tyrone.
Friends will be received on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren where a funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m., with Pastors Janet Sell and David Scott officiating.
