Luther Meade Jr., 88, resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, formerly of Wyoming County, WV, passed away Sunday morning, March 24, 2024, at The Village.

He was born in Lackey, KY, son of the late Luther Sr. and Ella (Cline) Meade.  On March 15, 1960, he married Gladys Mae Harrison, and she preceded him in death on May 6, 1979.

Surviving are two daughters: Pamela J. Roub of Imler and Melissa E. Acker (Robert) of East Freedom; two sons: Jeffrey N. Meade (Julia) of Leoma, TN and Timothy C. Meade of Roaring Spring; seven grandchildren: David Meade, Joseph Meade, Sarah Meade, Jeffrey Meade Jr., Kelsey Meade, Brandon Acker and Holly Acker; four great-grandchildren: Hailey Meade, Emily Meade, Dawson Meade and Jackson Meade; and a sister-in-law, Carrie Wicker of Pacoima, CA.

Luther was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Kenneth Roub; a daughter-in-law, Debra Meade; an infant sister, Davey Jean Wicker; and three brothers: Mickel Wicker, Merril Wicker and Lloyd Wicker.

He worked as a sawyer/edger for 18 years for the Georgia Pacific Lumber Company in Gilbert, WV.  After moving to Pennsylvania, Luther was employed for many years as a carpenter.

Luther loved spending time with his family and was faithful, active member with his church over the years.  He also enjoyed drawing, making jewelry, playing his guitar, harmonica and singing country and gospel music.

Friends will be received from 10am until noon, Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at The Village at Morrisons Cove, 429 S. Market St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.  Interment will be held at Christian Cemetery at Browning Fork, WV and assisted by Mounts Funeral Home, Gilbert, WV.

Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
