M. Golda Smith, 98, Martinsburg, passed away Friday afternoon at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg.

She was born in rural Martinsburg, daughter of the late, Clarence L. Sr. and Isabel B. (Bice) Smith.

Surviving are a son, G. Michael Smith (wife, Marie) of Newport News, VA; twin daughters: Carla D. Kensinger (husband, Steve) and Lisa G. King both of rural Martinsburg; four grandchildren: Cary Smith (wife, Mandy), Kristi Hoover (husband, Mitchell), Wesley King (wife, Jessica) and Jamie Kensinger; two great-granddaughters: Isabelle and Zoe; and a sister, Nancy M. Miller of Woodbury.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Steven R. King; four brothers: Emmert W., Donald F., Clarence L. Jr. “Lefty” and Homer E. Smith; and six sisters: Naomi W. Slagenweit, Virginia W. Fortney, Helen P. Roller, Mary Alice Sauer, S. Margaret “Peggy” Hoover and Shirley A. Knepp.

Golda was a 1937 graduate of Cove High School, Martinsburg.  She was a longtime, active member of Curryville Church of the Brethren and more recently attended Sunday services at The Village.

Mrs. Smith was employed for 25 years as a bookkeeper for Agway Petroleum and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and very seldom missed her daily walk.

Friends will be received from 1-2pm, Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the chapel at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg where a funeral service will follow at 2pm, Chaplain Linda S. Banaszak officiating.  Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Golda can be given to Martinsburg Community Library, 211 S. Walnut St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
