Mabel Edna Rhodes, 86, Duncansville, passed away Friday evening at UPMC Altoona.
She was born along Clover Creek, rural Martinsburg, daughter of the late Clayton and Fannie (Harstrom) Frye. She married Kenneth E. Rhodes on January 1, 1948. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1969.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Nancy Minor of Phoenix, AZ and Lou Ann Brown of Quakertown; 2 sons: Kenneth Jr. (Kathy) of Mt. Pocono and Larry (Susan) of North Port, FL; 3 grandchildren: Thaddeus Costella of Phoenix, AZ, Jennifer Lynn Szukics of Allentown and Kenneth L. Rhodes of Berwyn, PA; 4 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Rose Straesser of Martinsburg and Marjorie Moon of Albuquerque, NM.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Guyer; and 4 brothers: Denver “Bud”, I. Dale, Merle “Butch”, and Gary.
Mabel was a 1947 graduate of Morrison Cove High School.
She retired as an inspector in 1992 from Brooks Instruments, Hatfield with 15 years of service.
Mable enjoyed spending time with her family and reading.
Friends will be received from 12:30 until the 2pm funeral service, Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, Pastor Joel F. Nogle officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
