Marlene Kay (Burket) Claar, Snyder passed away on April 5, 2023 at The Grove in Latrobe, where she resided.  Her home was in Bedford. Kay was born on August 5, 1936 in Claysburg; parents were the late Eleanor and Watson Burket. Surviving sister, Norma Jean Dodson Capel and family.

A graduate of Greenfield – Kimmel Joint High School, Claysburg. She married John W. Claar and then N. Don Snyder, both who preceded her in death. Kay loved animals, crocheting, watching basketball, puzzles and reading her favorite novels.

Kay was preceded in death by her son, Kirk Snyder and grandson, James Douglas III.

Surviving are children, Cecelia J. Douglas (James) of Lecanto FL, Cynthia M. Claar of Bedford, Michael J. Claar (Deb) of Everett; step-children, Kim Reese, Brad Snyder and families; grandchildren, Quincey Zgoda, Haley Persavich, Kristen Lux, Shanda Devlin; and 8 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

At the request of our mother, there will be no public services. Burial will be at the New Enterprise Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date for family.

If so desired, donations may be given to Dementia/ Alzheimer’s foundations.
