Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Claycomb

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Claycomb, 100, a resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, formerly of Baltimore, MD, passed away early Sunday morning, October 20, 2024, at the home.

She was born in the Eldorado portion of Altoona, daughter of the late William B. and Mary B. (Russell) Eckhard. On February 23, 1946, she married Jack Lincoln Claycomb in Washington, DC. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2008 following 61 years of marriage.

Surviving are several nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth E. Kinsel and B. Lucille Kaplan.

She was a 1943 graduate of Altoona High School. While living in Baltimore, Betty worked as a personnel clerk, pre-school teacher and as a secretary for the Department of Navy. Mrs. Claycomb was a member of Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg.

Betty enjoyed helping others, gardening, listening to music, and reading.

A private graveside service will be held at Spring Hope Cemetery, Martinsburg.
