Max W. Hershberger

Max W. Hershberger, 84, of New Enterprise, passed away on May 11, 2019 at UPMC Altoona. He was born on June 17, 1934 in New Enterprise, son of the late Ross and Cleo (Detwiler) Hershberger. On June 12, 1960 at the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren, he was united in marriage to Joan (Furry) Hershberger who survives. Max was a Replogle High School Class of 1953 graduate. He then attended Elizabethtown College for two years. Max was a lifetime dairy farmer and served as the S. Woodbury constable for 20 years. After retirement, he owned and operated three mail contracts. Max was a member of the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, John and Charles Hershberger. Surviving are his wife Joan; daughter Nancy Anne Hershberger (Ed Majewski); daughter Melissa Mae Mellott (Tom); son Thomas Hershberger; son Matthew Hershberger; grandchildren TJ and Samuel Mellott and Hillary Rodak (Nick); great-grandson Luke; step great-grandchildren Connor and Maddy; brothers George, Robert, and Jerry Hershberger; sister Lois Kyper; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Tuesday May 14, 2019 from 9:00-11:00AM. At 11:00AM, a Funeral Service will take place with Rev. Marlys Hershberger officiating.  All of the above will be held at the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren. Private interment in the New Enterprise Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Max’s name can be made to the Southern Cove Volunteer Fire Company or the Southern Cove EMS.
