Melvin Lynn Kitchen, 51, Williamsburg, passed away unexpectedly, Monday afternoon at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, son of Melvin L. and Linda A. (Traxler) Kitchen.  Melvin was preceded in death by his father on October 1, 2008.

Surviving are his mother of Williamsburg; 2 sisters: Robin Houp (Barry) of rural Roaring Spring, and Heidi A. of Williamsburg; and a nephew, Shane Houp.

Melvin was preceded in death by his grandparents: Milford and Violet Kitchen, and John and Elizabeth Traxler; and an aunt, Linda K. Kitchen.

He was a 1984 graduate of Williamsburg High School.

Melvin was a loving and devoted, son and brother, who enjoyed listening to music, walking outdoors, taking care of his chickens, and had a soft spot in his for all animals.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Mending Hearts Animal Rescue.

There will be no public services and arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.
