Merrill A. Jones, 73, of rural Hollidaysburg, passed away Monday morning, February 1, 2021 at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Merrill August Jones and Lois B. Bryson.  On March 25, 1967 he married Sharon E. Grubb in Martinsburg.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years; a son, Shaun M. Jones (Lisa) of Monticello, VA; four grandchildren: John Hatch, Fredrik Hatch, Quay Jones and Kamrie Jones; and a sister, Diane Brown of Duncansville.

He was preceded in death by two daughters: Crystal Jones and Tamberli Jones.

Merrill was a 1965 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1965-1969 attaining the rank of private 1st class.

He was employed for many years as a grinder/finisher for SKF, Altoona and previously worked at JLG Industries, in Bedford and for Conrail at the Hollidaysburg Car Shops.  Merrill loved woodworking and enjoyed taking his handmade creations, along with his wife, Sharon, to craft shows throughout the area.

There will be no public services and arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
