Michael R. Kauruter

Michael R. Kauruter, 94, Lilly, formerly of Williamsburg passed away late Sunday morning at his home.
He was born in Lilly, son of the late Michael and Florence (Paul) Kauruter. He was twice married, first to Betty L. Rhodes on July 15, 1945, she preceded him in death on December 28, 1978. Michael then married Nora Barbara Beach in 1980.
Surviving are his wife; 4 sons: Raymond M. (Dorothy) of Lugoff, SC, Edward M. of rural Martinsburg, David H. (Teresa) of McConnellstown, and Steven T. “Roscoe” (Dorothy) of rural Williamsburg; 4 daughters: Betty Frank (Robert) of Alexandria, Dianna M. Guyer (Randy) of rural Martinsburg, Linda K. Kauruter of Southington, OH and Tammy Jo Repko (Joseph) of East Freedom; 23 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Durbin of Warriors Mark; half brother, Robert Evans of Waterside; and a step-son, Hal Beach.
He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Leroy; 2 brothers: Phillip Kauruter and John Karudar; half brother Lewis Evans; and a half sister, Dorothy Tate.
Michael had a longtime affiliation with Juniata Valley Gospel Church, rural Hollidaysburg and he enjoyed building tractors from scratch.
He was an U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theater, attaining the rank of corporal.
Michael retired as an automotive mechanic from Blair Street Exxon, Hollidaysburg in 1986 after many years of service. He previously was employed at Tom Ake’s Garage, Williamsburg and Greene’s Lincoln Mercury, Huntingdon.
Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg. A funeral service will be held at 11am, Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Juniata Valley Gospel Church, rural Hollidaysburg, Chaplain Tim Guyer officiating. Interment with full military honors accorded by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery, Williamsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to the Wounded Warrior Project.
