Michael P. “Mick” Marvich, 96, Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.

He was born in Ganister, rural Willliamsburg, son of the late Matthew and Barbara (Polvanich) Marvich.  He married Doris R. Sollenberger on September 9, 1967 in Williamsburg.  She preceded him in death on September 8, 2011.

Surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; and great- great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 2 infant sisters; and 6 brothers: Charles, Matthew, John, George, Frank, and Joseph Marvich.

Mick was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg, a life member of the Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg and a member of the Williamsburg V.F.W. Memorial Post.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, serving in the 344th infantry, 86th Division, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

Mick retired from ConRail’s “Maintenance Away” department in 1979 after 35 years of service.

He enjoyed hunting, especially rabbits with his beagles.

Friends will be received from 4-7pm, Friday, June 26, 2015 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg where a vigil for the deceased will be recited.  A funeral mass will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, June 27, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg, Father Aron M. Maghsoudi officiating.   Interment with military honors accorded by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Williamsburg.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to his church.
