Mildred Grace (Confer) Grove, 97, formerly of Lakemont, Altoona, died Sunday morning, April 22, 2018, at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.

She was born in Hollidaysburg, daughter of the late Charles L. and Hattie I. (Walter) Confer. She married James B. Grove on December 30, 1939, in Winchester, VA.  He passed away on January 9, 2013.

Surviving are her three children: Terry L. (Carol), Christopher A. (Claudia) and Priscilla L. Gibboney (Thomas); seven grandchildren: Scott (Hang), Kelly Gazdak (Steven), Brent (Michelle), Cortney, Nathan Gibboney (Becky), Ben Gibboney (Jessica) and Greta Hall (Tyler); and 4 great-grandchildren: Joshua, Samantha, Aubrey and Carter.

She was preceded in death by her beloved step-mother, Mary Swederski Confer; a sister, Florence Webster; and a step-brother, William Confer.

Mildred was a 1938 graduate of Altoona High School, and was a teacher's aide at Altoona Area School District for 14 years, retiring in 1980.

She was a longtime member of the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 70 years. Mildred enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

Friends will be received from 6-8, Tuesday, April 24, 2018, and from 10 until the 11 am funeral service, Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, Duncansville.  Interment will be at Geeseytown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Altoona Blair Senior Center or the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren would be appreciated.
