Mildred (Kniesly) Brubaker

September 27, 1927 — October 1, 2019

Beloved mother and grandmother, Mildred Irene Kniesly Brubaker, entered into the arms of her beloved Savior at Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg, PA, at the age of  92 on October 1, 2019. Born September 27, 1927 to the late Harold and Mary (Hoover) Kniesly in West Milton, Ohio.

She graduated from Union High School in West Milton and from Messiah Junior College in 1947. In 1948, Mildred married Abram Hess Brubaker and became a devoted pastor’s wife, supporting Hess in everyway. Mildred was gifted in hospitality, sharing her love of cooking, serving, and entertaining those around her.  In 1965, Hess and Mildred bought a farm in Newburg, PA. She put her heart and soul into farm-life, and loved, almost every minute!

In her retirement, she spent six years serving as the head cook at Kenbrook Retreat Center, Lebanon, PA.

Mildred lived her Christian faith through quietly serving in any way she was able; playing the piano, organizing children's ministries, teaching Child Evangelism Fellowship, serving her family, and praying for them regularly. She was a lifelong member of the Brethren In Christ Church (BIC).

Mildred loved music, reading the Bible, sewing, and watching her family grow. She was known for her smile and sweet nature. In her later years, she was lovingly referred to as the “fudge lady” because she made fudge and cards for birthdays and anniversaries for attendees of the Mechanicsburg and Dillsburg BIC church.

She will lovingly be remembered by her children; Verle (Maralee Hade), Barbara (Paul) Grane, Wayne (Karyn Olsen), Letha Zook, Faithe (Kevin) Oberholtzer, Avis (Brent) Whitesel, as well as her 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.  Her love and prayers will be missed by her family.

Mildred was greeted by heaven by her loving husband of 53 years, grandson, Richard Grane, and sister, Pauline Herr.

Services will be held at the Chapel at Messiah Village, on October 5, 2019, at 10:30 am, a viewing will precede the service at 9:00 am until the time of the service.

Memorial gifts may be given to the Messiah Village Endowment Fund, 100 Mt. Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 or to Brethren in Christ World Missions, 431 Grantham Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
