Nellie R. Lang

Nellie R. Lang, 100, of rural Williamsburg, passed away Thursday morning, December 15, 2022 at her home.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late George W. and Margaret (Smay) MacDonald. On September 14, 1946 she married Franklin W. Lang in Altoona. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2000, after 53 years of marriage.
Surviving are two sons: William D. Lang (Joann) of Moncks Corner, SC and Eugene R. Lang of Williamsburg; two daughters: Barbara A. Carper (Dennis) of Williamsburg and Lois J. Lang-Appleman (Jeff) of State College; eight grandchildren: Kelly Clouser (Chris), Louie Lang (Autumn), Keith Carper (Kelly), Troy Carper (Linda), Darrin Carper (Emily), Ryan Lang (Jessica), Kristan Salyards (Shaun) and Michael Lang Appleman; 17 great-grandchildren: Zach Zomok (Kendra), Andrew Zomok, Mara Zomok, Morgan Clouser, Capri Lang, Torin Lang, Joseph Carper (Shannon), Nick Carper, Mackenzie Carper, Tabitha Clowson (Tyler Stiffler), Brock Clowson (Cedric McKinney), Camilla Carper, Gianna Carper, Gemma Salyards, Jude Salyards, Monroe Lang and Marco Lang; and four great-great-grandchildren: Iris Zomok, Oliver Zomok, Charlotte Carper and JAC Carper.
Nellie was preceded in death by two brothers: George MacDonald and W. Albert MacDonald; and three sisters: Dorothy Rodgers, Margaret James and Betty Detwiler.
She was a 1940 graduate of Williamsburg High School and a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg.
Nellie was primarily a loving homemaker, who also worked for various businesses, including: Sylvania, Altoona, Westvaco, Rhode’s Meat Market and the Big D, Department Store, which were all in Williamsburg.
Nellie’s family was the most important thing in her life. She loved watching her grand and great-grand-children participate in sports and any other activity. Nellie also enjoyed doing needlepoint and baking, she made the most amazing pies and gobs.
There will be no public service. A private burial, beside her beloved husband, Frank will be held at the Williamsburg Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.
Memorial contributions in memory of Nellie may be given to Zion Lutheran Church, 217 Plum St., Williamsburg, PA 16693.
