Patricia Lou (Armour) Pepple

Patricia Lou Pepple, 86, of 418 11th Street, Huntingdon, formerly of Woodbury, died September 30, 2020, at Epworth Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Tyrone, where she had been a patient since 2016.

Born March 10, 1934, in Washington Court House, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John H. “Jack” Sr. and Miriam (McCool) Armour, who had resided in Woodbury.

She was united in marriage to Donald W. Pepple on June 10, 1955, in Woodbury.

Surviving are her husband, of Huntingdon; son Michael (Jennifer) Pepple, Hillsboro, TN; daughters Amy (Gary) Miller, Huntingdon, and Valerie (Dan) DeRose, Wexford; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, James C. “Jim” Armour (Joan) of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John H. “Jack” Armour Jr. (Joyce), Palm Coast, Florida, and Robert “Bob” Armour (Linda), Tujunga, California.

Mrs. Pepple was a 1952 graduate of the former Woodbury High School. She attended the University of Pittsburgh for a year. While there, she was a member of the Alpha Chapter of CWEN, a women’s leadership honorary with which she served as a hostess/tour guide for the Nationality Classrooms in the university’s Cathedral of Learning.

From 1953-54, she was employed with Craig’s Department Store in Washington Court House, Ohio. In 1966, she was hired as a pupil aide with the Title I Reading Program in the Northern Bedford School District, Loysburg. She retired in 1990 after 24 years with the school district.

A member of the Woodbury Church of the Brethren, Mrs. Pepple served the denomination on local, district and national levels. At Woodbury Church, she was both a youth and adult Sunday school teacher; worship leader; choir member; president of Women’s Fellowship; and chaired both the Outreach and Service and Christian Education Commissions for the church’s Board of Administration. In 1976, she helped write and narrate a dramatic presentation about the Woodbury congregation for its centennial celebration.

In 1964, Mrs. Pepple was recognized by Mount Zion Baptist Church, Altoona, for her efforts in the advancement of racial Christian brotherhood in Blair County.

Mrs. Pepple served the Middle Pennsylvania District of the Church of the Brethren as District Moderator in 1990. She was co-coordinator of the district’s 1992 Heritage Fair, chaired the district’s Review and Evaluation Committee in 1988, and was one of its delegates to the national Annual Conference in 1972. On the national level, she served as a member of the Church of the Brethren’s Standing Committee in 1985 and as a member of the Nominating Committee.

Arrangements are being made through Weaver Funeral Home, LLC; Woodbury. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service. Interment will be made in Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury.
