Paul E. “Pap” Cunningham, Sr., 70, of Roaring Spring, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. He was born on April 22, 1955, in Roaring Spring, son of the late Raymond C. Sr. and Mary C. (Johnston) Cunningham. On June 5, 1975, in Roaring Spring, he was united in marriage to Shirley I. (Garber) Cunningham; she preceded him in death on April 5, 2013.
Paul was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1973. After farming and construction, he became a machine operator at Small Tubes until his retirement. Not long after that is when the fun began and he found his true calling. He was instrumental in starting and becoming the face of Base Camp Guns. During his tenure there, he spent a lot of time with his dog Gunner, faithful sidekick and mascot of the shop, as well as with his many friends who simply began as customers. Pap often said no matter how many people came in, he never met a stranger there.
After a long and incredibly brave fight with cancer, he passed away peacefully, surrounded by the people who loved him most. It was a hard-fought battle, but in the end, he was tired, ready to rest, and join his true love Shirley in eternity. Even in his final days, his focus was on family, quality time together, and gambling on a few scratch offs. That time together will forever be cherished and his presence never forgotten. He was the kind of person who always showed up, loved deeply without judgement, and left a lasting mark on everyone who met him. His tremendous strength, sharp sense of humor, and gentle heart carried us through so much. Those memories will continue to carry us far into the future.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley as well as 3 siblings. Surviving is daughter, Kim Paul (Jim); son, Paul Cunningham; former daughter-in-law Mary Cunningham. 5 grandchildren: Blaize Mock (Alexis), Kenzie McElravy (Lane), Rozlyn Bolatto (Brady), Michael Cunningham, and Jacob Cunningham; 3 great-grandchildren: Linley Mock, Aizley Mock, and Kayden McElravy; and brothers: Gary Giselman (Sandy), Don Cunningham (Autumn), Raymond Cunningham, and Joe Cunningham (Chris).
Friends will be received on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 10:00AM until the 3:00PM Funeral Service at the Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, Chris Cohn officiating. Private Interment will be in Brumbaugh Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Paul’s name may be made to The Matt Baker Cancer Fund.
