Pauline M. (Riehl) Gartland

Pauline M. Gartland, 93, of Loysburg, passed away on October 15, 2016, at her home. Born on October 21, 1922 in Amaranth, the daughter of William A. and Harriett (Spade) Riehl. On February 24, 1946, she married Marion J. “Pete” Gartland, he preceded her in death on February 24, 1977. Pauline was a 1942 graduate of Everett High School and a member of the St. John’s Reformed Church in Loysburg. She was employed by the Everett Sewing Factory, Glen L. Martin (Baltimore), and the Cove Shoe Factory. She enjoyed traveling and was a Charter Member of the Cove Lioness. Pauline was also a member of the NBC Community Club, the NBC Senior Citizens, The Red Hat Society, Purple Panther Paws, and the Southern Cove Fire Company Auxiliary. She was also a very proud recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. She was preceded in death by her husband as well as her son James W.  Gartland. Survivors include, son Richard Gartland (Becky) of Hopewell; son Joseph “Joe” Gartland (Deborah) of Dillsburg, PA; brother William Riehl of Loysburg; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and special friends Charlie and June Mountain. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM and 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Wednesday the 19th at the St. John’s Reformed Church in Loysburg. At 11:00AM Wednesday a Funeral Service will be held at the church with Pastor David Meckley officiating. Interment at St. John’s Reformed Church Cemetery. If so desired, Memorial Contributions can be made to St. John’s Reformed Church or the Southern Cove Fire Company/EMS. Arrangements by the S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home; Woodbury.
