Peggy A. (Guyer) (Lingenfelter) Boyd, 82, formerly of East Freedom, passed away Saturday evening, January 10, 2026 at Homewood Living Martinsburg where she had resided since December of 2024. She was born on September 9, 1943, a daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Sell) Guyer. On August 26, 1961, Peggy married Charles L. “Cappy” Lingenfelter, who passed away on December 10, 1982. On March 31, 1990, Peggy married John A. Boyd, who passed away on January 2, 2004.
Peggy is survived by four children: Mark “Cappy” (Trisha) of Hopewell; Kelly Smith (Kevin) of New Enterprise; Dana Givler (Bill) of rural Duncansville; and C. David of Baker’s Summit. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brother Joe (Jean) of New Enterprise, sister Joyce Kichman of New Enterprise, sister Dixie Long (David) of Destin, FL, and sisters-in-law Darlene of Martinsburg, Darlene of Homewood Living Martinsburg and Patty of Loysburg. Peggy was also predeceased by brothers Dale, Ted, Don, Jim, Roger and Larry.
Peggy was a lifetime homemaker and grandchild sitter and was a great cook and baker. She also managed several rental properties. She loved to attend auctions, and before her health deteriorated, meticulously maintained and landscaped her property in East Freedom, her home for over 60 years. Her outdoor Christmas decorations were well-known. She attended the Leamersville Church of the Brethren while raising her children, and later attended the Woodbury Church of the Brethren for many years.
Friends will be received on Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 10:00 am until the 12:00 pm Funeral Service at Homewood Living Martinsburg – Bice Memorial Chapel, Pastor Mark “Cappy” Lingenfelter officiating. Interment will be done privately in Dry Hill Cemetery, rural Woodbury. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Peggy’s name may be made to the Homewood Living Martinsburg Benevolent Fund; 437 Givler Drive, Martinsburg, PA 16662.
