R. Leroy Bumgardner

R. Leroy Bumgardner, 83, of Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday evening, May 12, 2021 at UPMC Altoona.

He was born at his family’s home in Larke, just south of Williamsburg, son of the late Kenneth L. and Elda M. (Kipe) Bumgardner.  On July 10, 1965 he married N. Jane Cunningham in Williamsburg.  She preceded him in death on June 27, 2001.

Surviving are a son, Eric Bumgardner of Williamsburg; a sister, Susan K. Baker (Bill) of Williamsburg; and a special granddog, Nittany.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris L. Verbonitz and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Leroy was a 1957 graduate of Williamsburg High School and was a longtime, faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg.  He retired as a supervisor in 1997 from Westvaco, Williamsburg after 32 years of service.

He was a member of the Seven Falls Anglers Club, Locke Mountain Rod & Gun Club, both in Williamsburg and Hollidaysburg Lodge #220 F.&A.M.  Leroy was a former member of the Jaffa Shrine and Jaffa Drum and Bugle Corps.

Leroy enjoyed fishing and also loved spending time at his home in Merritt Island, Florida.

Friends will be received from 4-7pm, Saturday, May 15, 2021 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg and from 1 until the 2pm funeral service, Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, Pastor Tiffany E. Marvich officiating.  Interment will follow at Henry’s Lutheran Cemetery at Yellow Springs, Williamsburg.
