Ralph Dean Moyer, 93, Williamsburg, passed away Friday morning at UPMC Altoona, following a brief illness.

He was born in Catharine Township, rural Williamsburg, son of the late Ralph Martin and Mertle Belle (Dively) Moyer. He married Ethel L. Tetwiler on October 15, 1943 in Cumberland, MD.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 72 years of Williamsburg; 3 daughters: Grace L. Suter (husband, D. Patrick) of Langhorne, Patricia A. Riley (husband, William C.) of rural Williamsburg, and Linda K. Smith (husband, Gerald E.) of Martinsburg; 3 grandchildren: Brian P. Suter (wife, Colleen), Jeffrey A. Suter and Valerie L. Detwiler (husband, C.A.); 4 great-grandchildren: Erin, Caroline, and Luke Suter and Carly Jane Detwiler; a sister, Margaret V. Frye of WIlliamsburg; and a nephew, Ralph Pearson (wife, Doris) of rural Williamsburg.

He was preceded in death by a 4 year old brother, George; a sister, Mary V. Pearson; and a niece, Dorothy Pearson.

Dean attended a one room school house in Mount Etna, rural Williamsburg.

He was a lifetime member of the former Yellow Springs Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg, where he served on Church Council, Cemetery Committee, and the Building Committee.

Dean retired as a heavy equipment operator from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, with 22 years of service from 1962 until 1984. Following his retirement he helped his son-in-law, Gerald on his farm in Martinsburg.

He served on the Williamsburg Borough Council from 1984 until 2002, and was a member of the retired employees of A.F.S.M.E., Chapter 13, Williamsburg Beagle Club and the former Fraternal Order of Eagles, Williamsburg.

Dean loved spending time with his family and his daughters were his pride and joy. He and wife, Ethel also enjoyed participating in the local farm shows. Other pleasures he enjoyed were his garden, flowers, taking bus trips and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.

Friends will be received from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Monday, February 15, 2016 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, Pastor Tiffany E. Marvich, Bishop Dennis J. Pruitt and Pastor Betty J. Royer officiating. Private interment will be held at Henry’s Lutheran Cemetery at Yellow Springs, rural Williamsburg.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to the Williamsburg Ambulance Club.
