New Enterprise

Ray E. Grubb, 90 passed away May 15, 2026 at his home on the family farm. He was born on June 2, 1935 in New Enterprise; son of the late Chalmer M. Grubb and Ella Fae (Brumbaugh) Grubb-Gamble. His early years were spent raised by his aunt and uncle, Hazen and Anna Fern Ebersole. Ray was a caring man that was always ready to serve God by lending a helping hand to anyone in need and welcoming others into his home.

He graduated from Replogle High School in 1954. He worked at the University of Maryland in the dairy barns through the Brethren Volunteer Service for several years before returning to New Enterprise to farm full time. He and his wife bought a dairy farm in 1965 where he farmed for over forty years. He was active in Pennsylvania Farmers Association and was a founding member of the Blair-Bedford Tractor Pullers Association and one of the first members of the Southern Cove Power Reunion. He loved tractor pulling and long tractor rides. Ray served as deacon for many years at New Enterprise Church of the Brethren and was still an active member.

Ray loved spending time with his family, farming, old hymns and being in church. He loved to laugh and have fun and was quick-witted no matter the circumstance.

He was married to his high school sweetheart for 68 years, Della Mae (Detwiler) and helped care for her until her passing last year. He was preceded in death by siblings, Dick Grubb, Joe Grubb, Nancy Wilson, Flora Mae Gamble, Dorothy Replogle, Margie Sovercool, Mary Ruth McClain and John Gamble. Surviving are his three children Kevin Grubb (Pam), Krista Walters (Tim Kelly) and Karolyn Mundy (Chris); seven grandchildren: Cale Grubb, Jessica Grubb, Michael Walters, Maria Bolger, Jenna Claycomb (Parker), Kasey Williams (Brock), and Preston Mundy (Allie); six great-grandchildren; Jenna Bolger, Alec Bolger, Chauncey Mundy, Wes Mundy, Lane Claycomb, Marshall Claycomb, Emery Williams and brother Tom Gamble and many nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.

The family would like to thank Jamie Decker, Julie Chappell, Bonnie Dick and Gentiva Hospice for their love and amazing care. We are deeply thankful all of your support and compassion.

Friends will be received on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at New Enterprise Church of the Brethren with visitation from 9:00 until the 11:00 am Memorial Service; Pastor Paul Snyder officiating.
