Richard D. Dixon, 77, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully, Saturday evening, July 9, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Martinsburg, son of the late John W. Jr. and Isabel R. (Drake) Dixon. On November 18, 1965, he married Charlene M. Lee in Williamsburg.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Charlene; four children: John W. Dixon (Shakirah), April M. Hamilton, Jewely H. Harstrom (Ed Verbonitz) and Matthew S. Dixon (Alyse), all of Williamsburg; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, K. Taylor Dixon; and four sisters: Jacqueline Betz, Ella Mae Moyer, Mary G. Murtaugh, and Emma J. Yingling.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Murray F., Thomas L., Kenneth E. “Gid”, and Gary L. Dixon.

Richard was a 1962 graduate of Central High School. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving from 1962 until 1966, attaining the rank of Airman 2nd Class.

He was a local tank truck driver for over 50 years, and a life member of the Altoona Area Public Library. Richard loved spending time with his family, especially with his grand and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed reading and was an avid Pennsylvania Railroad Historian.

At Richard’s request, all services will be private. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.

Memorial contributions in memory of Richard may be given to the Altoona Area Public Library, 1600 Fifth Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
