Richard E. Shaffer

Richard E. Shaffer, 68, of Marble, passed away on October 15, 2018 at his home. He was born on June 2, 1950 in Harrisburg, the son of Allen R. and Miriam (Jury) Shaffer. On March 14, 1970, in Saxton, he married Karen S. Byers who survives. After graduating from high school, Richard went to serve his country in the United States Air Force.  He served as a Technical Sergeant until retiring after 20 years of service. After retiring from the Air Force, Richard held a variety of jobs prior to his illness. One being that of working in the Sporting Goods Department at Walmart. He was a member of Fryburg Sportsman’s Club and loved hunting and visiting sporting goods stores. He was preceded in death by his father Allen R. Shaffer and a great-nephew Aiden Nevin Key. Surviving are his wife Karen; mother Miriam; brother Dennis Shaffer; as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and great nephews. Friends will be received on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 1:00-3:00PM. At 3:00PM a Memorial Service will take place with Reverend Josh Peck officiating. All of the above will be held at the Pilgrim Holiness Church; Venus, PA. Interment will be at Dry Hill Cemetery.
