Robert Clayton Fornwalt, 89, resident of West Haven Manor, Apollo, formerly of Spring Church and Williamsburg, passed away early Friday morning at West Haven Manor.

He was born in Williamsburg, son of the late Robert H. and Thelma R. (Smith) Fornwalt. On August 31, 1948 he married F. Louise Kann in Winchester, VA. She preceded him in death on January 11, 2016.

Surviving are 3 daughters: Nancy L. Gunnett (Ed) of Williamsburg, Peggy J. Marangoni (Jim) of Apollo and Susan K. Egley (Doug) of Spring Church; 2 sons: Robert C. Jr. (Jamie) of Palm Harbor, FL and Fred H. of Apollo; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-granddaughters; a step-great-great granddaughter; 2 sisters: Charlotte Walker of Easton and Connie Ross of Hollidaysburg; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Banks and a brother, William Fornwalt.

Robert was a 1944 graduate of Williamsburg High School and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII, where he served three years in Guam and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He was a lifelong member of Cove Forge United Methodist Church, rural Williamsburg and attended Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Shelocta.

Robert retired in 1987 from Penelec, Keystone Power Plant, Indiana, with 38 years of service. He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.

Friends will be received from 11am until the 12:30 pm, funeral service, Monday, March 13, 2017 at Cove Forge United Methodist Church, rural Williamsburg where full military honors will be accorded by the Blair County Veteran’s Honor Guard, Pastor Heather A. Wurst officiating. Private interment will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Cove Forge or Mount Zion United Methodist Churches or West Haven Manor.
