Rosamond A. Smith, 91, of Martinsburg, PA, passed away in the good care of the staff at Homewood of Martinsburg on Nov. 1, 2018. She will be remembered by many former students as their business teacher at Central High School where she taught until retirement. She was valedictorian of Morrison Cove HS, class of 1944, after which she went to and received a Bachelor of Arts in Education at Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA, graduating magna cum laude, class of 1948. She was also in the glee club. Her Master’s Degree in Business Education was earned from The University of Pittsburgh. Family and church filled her life outside the classroom. She leaves eight nieces and nephews who will fondly remember their Aunt Rosamond from holidays and get-togethers at the Smith family farm. Walks “out the lane”, berry picking, typing lessons at the kitchen table, vegetable harvesting and trips to Lakemont Park were always fun adventures when accompanied by her. Rosamond is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Lois Smith and Gloria Smith, both of Duncansville. A woman of strong faith, she was an active member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, a Sunday school regular, Circle member and faithful Sunday worship participant. She studied and thought deeply about her faith. Rosamond also enjoyed bowling and traveling with friends and family. Rosamond will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg, among her family members, mother Ada, father Lloyd, sister Jean Bollard and brothers Fred, David and Roger Smith. A brief, public interment service will be held at the graveside with her family, friends and pastor on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00am.
