Rosella M. “Posey” Blattenberger

Rosella M. “Posey” Blattenberger, 92, a resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of rural Martinsburg, passed away Sunday morning, February 6, 2022 at The Village.

She was born in Woodbury, daughter of the late Clarence E. and Grace Ella (Pepple) Sell.  On March 26, 1949 she married John Drew Blattenberger.  He preceded her in death on August 11, 1970 after 21 years of marriage.

Surviving are four children: Steven Blattenberger (Gail) of Martinsburg, Nancy Parks (James) of Royer, Daniel Blattenberger (Karen) of Martinsburg, and David Blattenberger (Companion Jill Harshbarger) of rural Martinsburg;  Eight grandchildren: Adam, Breanne, Annie, Ryan, Lucas, Kate, Sarah, and Joshua; Three great-grandchildren: Van, Gemma, and Shep, who is to be born soon.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Betty R. Curry and Lorraine I. Yingling.

Posey was a 1947 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School.

She retired as a Certified Nurses Aide in 1995 from The Morrisons Cove Home with 25 years of service.

Posey loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed flower gardening, vegetable gardening, and canning.

At the request of the deceased there will be no public viewing or services. A private inurnment will be held at the family’s convenience at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
