Ruth N. Lykens

Ruth N. Lykens, 90, resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of Williamsburg, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday morning at The Village.
She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late William E. and Pearl I. (Lynn) Moyer. She married Thomas Denver Lykens on September 24, 1948 in Somerset. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1991.
Surviving are 2 sons: Dr. Larry W. Lykens (wife, Margaret) of Roanoke, VA, and William L. Lykens of Williamsburg; 3 grandchildren: Leslie Hammel, Jonathan Lykens, and Karissa Butler; and 3 great-grandchildren: Tyler Riggleman, Tregan and Jett Butler, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Moyer.
Ruth was a 1943 graduate of Williamsburg High School.
She was a member of Grace Pointe Community Church, the former Williamsburg Church of God, where she was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary.
Ruth retired as an envelope packer from Mead Westvaco, Williamsburg with 25 years of service and had previously worked at Crownover’s Market, Williamsburg.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and sewing.
Friends will be received from 1 until the 2:30 pm funeral service, Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Grace Pointe Community Church, Williamsburg, Dr. Larry W. Lykens, Bishop Dennis J. Pruitt and Pastor Paul R. Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Oreminea Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to her church.
