Ruth Irene Chesney, 89, rural Martinsburg went home to be with her Lord, Monday evening, April 16, 2018, at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late George and Anna (Miller) Nicewonger.  On August 25, 1945 she married Charles A. Chesney in Altoona and he passed away on February 12, 2007.

Surviving are a daughter, Ruth I. White (husband, James) of Claysburg; two sons: Charles A. Jr. (wife, Linda) of rural Martinsburg and David F. of Woodbury; eight grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a  brother, Ronald Nicewonger of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Clair and Roy Nicewonger; and four sisters: Evelyn Fowkes, Faye Biseli, Ivy Snyder and Louise Smith.

Ruth attended church at Williamsburg Independent Bible Baptist Church and for 33 years assisted her husband on their dairy farm along Clover Creek.

She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed flower gardening, playing cards, crocheting and going to yard sales.

Friends will be received from 1 until 3pm, Friday, April 20, 2018 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg where a funeral service will follow, Pastor Joseph D. Weber officiating.  Private interment will be held at Mooresville Cemetery, Huntingdon County.

The family prefers memorial contributions in memory of Ruth be given to your local FFA Organization or 4H Club.
