Ryan L. Hinton, 53, of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday morning, March 23, 2024, at UPMC Altoona, following a three and a half year, battle with cancer.

He was born in Roaring Spring, the youngest son of Kenneth H. Hinton and Ruth E. (Rhodes) Hinton Hoover.  Ryan was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Connor R. Hinton.

Surviving are six siblings: Nancy Levitsky (Steve) of State College, David Hinton (Deborah) of Lima, NY, Joseph Hinton (Sherry) of Roaring Spring, Jeffrey Hinton (Sharon) of Roaring Spring, Betsy Villalobos of Shrewsbury and Robert Hinton (Amy) of Williamsburg; and eleven nieces and nephews, their spouses and children.

Ryan graduated in 1988 from Central High School, Martinsburg, after which he worked for 15 years at the Farm Bureau in New Enterprise.  Ryan spent his early years on the family farm, which fostered a life-long love of farming.  While working at Farm Bureau, he also worked part-time for many local farmers, who needed an extra hand.  He developed a reputation of being reliable, knowledgeable and hard working.  Ryan was always willing to help a farmer in need.

In addition to farming, he also enjoyed gardening, hunting, basketball and football.  Ryan was a self-professed weather geek who could explain any weather event in great detail.  He spent his final days watching farming shows on the YouTube channel.

Friends will be received from 4-6pm, Thursday, March 28, 2024, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a memorial service will begin at 6pm, Pastor Joseph Weber officiating.  Private inurnment will be held at Spring Hope Cemetery, Martinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ryan’s memory may be made to Farm Aid (farmaid.org) or to The American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin St., State College, PA 16803.
