Sandra L. Snyder, 73, Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday morning at her home.

She was born in Williamsburg, the first-born daughter of the late Blair F. and Violet M. (Stout) Snyder.

Sandy is survived by a sister, Linda Dilling of Williamsburg; a brother, Jack Snyder of State College; the “men in her life”, nephews:  Allen Dilling of Williamsburg, Travis Snyder (Bernadette) and Jonathan Snyder (Lauren), both of State College; 2 great-nephews: Nicolas and Conner Snyder; 2 great-nieces: Claire and Angela Snyder; and several cousins, including a special cousin, Peggy (Snyder) Longenecker.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: William “Bill” in 1999, and James “Jim” in 2004.

Sandy graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1962, the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing in 1965, and was licensed as a Registered Nurse.  In 1977, she received her B.S. in Nursing from Penn State University.

After working as a staff nurse at Altoona Hospital, she joined the faculty of the former Altoona Area Vo-Tech School, Practical Nursing program, serving as instructor and coordinator.

In 2006, she completed her nursing career after 20 years as Chief Nursing Officer at Tyrone Hospital.

Sandy served on numerous professional and educational advisory boards in the area during her career.

She was a lifetime member of the Williamsburg Church of the Brethren, where she served as organist since 1970, was a choir member, and Sunday school pianist.

The loves in her life were family, music, and sports.  She served as the family “cook” who enjoyed sharing traditional holiday meals.

Her smile and love for life will be deeply missed.

Friends will be received from 6-8 pm Friday, February 23, 2018 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg and from 10 am until the 11 am celebration of life service Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Williamsburg Church of the Brethren, Pastor Allen J. Baker Jr. officiating. Private interment will be held at Presbyterian Cemetery, Williamsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Williamsburg Ambulance Club, PO Box 94, Williamsburg, or the Cancer Survivor's Association, 287 Douglas Dr., State College, PA 16803.
