Scott "Butch" Alan Bassler

June 28, 1969 — October 5, 2022

Woodbury

Scott “Butch” Alan Bassler, 53, of Woodbury, received his checkered flag and took a victory lap with the Lord on October 5, 2022, following an unexpected illness. He was born on June 28, 1969 at Nason Hospital.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Gary C. and Linda L. (Dodson) Bassler; grandparents, Chester and Ora Bassler and Paul and Twilla Dodson; and an uncle, Fred Bassler.

Surviving is his fiancée, Lori Chamberlain; son, Dillon Bassler and wife Alicia; daughter, Alexis Corl and husband Jordan; granddaughters, Raelynn and Addyson Corl and Oaklee and Harlee Bassler; sister, Dawn Howard and husband Michael; nieces, Breah Boore and husband Adam and Lydia Claar and long-term partner, Russell; nephew, Reis Howard; and his loyal best friend, Doug “Dunk” Slick.

Scott graduated from Northern Bedford County High School in 1987. He went on to become an expert in autobody and paint repair.  In1997, he opened Bassler‘s Auto and led a successful self-owned business. Scott was most recently devoting his time and expertise to Weaver‘s Body and Frame in Saxton.

Among his hobbies, circle track racing and classic car restoration were a way of life. Scott raced at the Bedford Speedway for many years, with his last win in 1999. He continued this passion by attending races at local speedways and sponsoring fellow racers. Scott also enjoyed camping, and spending time with his grandchildren and his lifelong circle of “Cove Boys.”

Just like the smoking tires from his signature burnout, Scott has left a memorable mark in the heart of many. He was most known for his larger-than-life personality. His presence filled the room with strong-spirited opinions, followed by the laughs of friends and family. Above all, he unapologetically lived his life to the fullest, exactly the way he wanted to.

Friends will be received on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 10:00AM – 1:00PM at the Stone Funeral Home in Woodbury. At 1:00PM, a Classic Car procession to Dry Hill Cemetery will commence.
