Shirley M. Haney

Shirley M. Haney, 85, Williamsburg, passed away Sunday morning, January 1, 2017, at her home following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.
She was born in Williamsburg, a daughter of the late Nelson “Jake” and Elda (Treese) Brantner. On March 12, 1949, she married Robert E. Haney at the Zion Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2007.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Susan K. Lillibridge of Williamsburg and Barbara J. Detweiller of Ernest; a son, Ronald E. (wife Helen “Doll”) of rural East Freedom; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Sandra (Russell) Crownover of Williamsburg and Deborah Ford of Johnstown; a sister-in-law, Jeanie Haney of Williamsburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Ronald.
Shirley was the Valedictorian of the Williamsburg High School Class of 1949, and retired after 22 years where she was employed at Williamsburg at the Envelope Factory.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, where she was active in W.E.L.C.A. and sang in the church choir, and was also a charter member of the Order of Eastern Star, Williamsburg Chapter.
Shirley enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, playing cards, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, Pastor Tiffany E. Marvich officiating. Private interment will be held at Salem Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
