Shirley J. (Hinkle) Shoenfelt, 96, of Martinsburg, formerly of Shippensburg, passed away on August 27, 2024 at the Village at Morrisons Cove. She was born on November 2, 1927 in Hollidaysburg; daughter of the late Donald E. and Minerva (Marlon) Hinkle. On June 23, 1948 in Winchester, Virginia, she was united in marriage to Howard J. Shoenfelt.
Shirley was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and member of the Yellow Creek Church. She enjoyed playing piano, being outdoors, teaching Sunday School, oil painting, macrame, crocheting, and sewing.
Shirley was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Elizabeth Shoenfelt; husband, Howard J. Shoenfelt, Sr. in 2002; and siblings, Donald E. Hinkle, Jr., William Hinkle, Ellen Merritts, and Audrey Clark. Surviving is daughter, Karen Diehl (James) of Hopewell; daughter, Jackie Roberts (Dan, deceased) of Aspers; son, David Shoenfelt (Kathy, deceased) of Newville; son, Howard J. Shoenfelt, Jr. (Marie) of Scottsdale; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings, Minerva Hart, Barbara Hinkle, and Paul Hinkle (Joyce).
Friends will be received on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 1:00PM until the 2:00PM Funeral Service at the Stone Funeral Home in Woodbury; Pastor Mark Lingenfelter officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.
