Shirley V. (Helsel) Russell

Shirley V. Russell, 84, of Woodbury, went home to be with her Lord on February 27, 2017 at Altoona UPMC. Born on March 13, 1932 in Roaring Spring, the daughter of Sherman and Florence (Clouse) Helsel. On November 1, 1950 in Woodbury, she married Donald L. Russell who survives. Shirley was a member of the Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church and worked in the Dietary Department at the Morrisons Cove Home for over 20 years. Above all, Shirley enjoyed being a homemaker, preparing meals for all to enjoy.  She also had a love of nurturing plants and seeds and “playing in the dirt” in her greenhouse. Surviving is her husband Donald; son Greg Russell (Trish) of Ore Hill; son Brian Russell (Dawn) of Hedgesville, WV; daughter Jeanne Detwiler of Woodbury; sister Rosemary Gable; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by sisters Janice Gable and Kathleen Trott. Friends will be received on Thursday, March 2nd from 4:00PM-8:00PM and Friday, March 3rd from 10:00AM-11:00AM. At 11:00AM, Friday a Funeral Service will take place with Pastor David Meckley officiating. All of the above will be held at Weaver Funeral Home in Woodbury. Interment will be at Dry Hill Cemetery.
