Sonja J.  "Sonny Jo" Porreca

Sonja J. Porreca, 78, rural Martinsburg, passed away early Tuesday morning at her home following an extended illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Joseph C. and Helen I. (Marx) Ostrander.  In October of 1982 she married James C. Porreca.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 33 years; a daughter, Charmayne Raia (Joseph) of Altoona; a son, Anthony Diviney (Penni) of Clearwater, FL; 2 step-daughters: Valerie Orr (Will) and Lisa Burris (Will); and a step-son, Tom Porreca (Gwen); 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Cowen.

Sonja was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Roaring Spring, Morrison Cove Blair County Republican Club and also volunteered at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring.

She had worked for many years as a bartender/manager at “Sid’s Lounge”, Altoona.  Sonya enjoyed working at Sid’s and just truly loved people.

Friends will be received from 9:30 am until the 10:30 am funeral mass, Saturday, July 30, 2016 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Roaring Spring, Father Leo A. Lynch officiating.  Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
