Stanley Glenn Ormsby, 93, of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of 107 N. Mulberry St., passed away Wednesday evening, February 17, 2016, at Homewood.

He was born March 6, 1922, in rural Martinsburg, the son of the late Edward Hiley and Anna C. Maria (von Schluembach) Ormsby.

He married Violet M. Blattenberger on April 13, 1946 in Leamersville. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2001.

Stanley is survived by 3 sons: S. Gordon (Marion Gregor) of Corvallis, OR, Sidney Charles, and Nathan Paul (Jill Ritchey) all of Martinsburg; 2 daughters: Fawn Diane Ishom (Dr. Thomas) of Chesapeake, VA, and Juel May Ormsby (Dr. Timothy Miller) of Strongstown, PA; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Deborah (Provins) Ormsby; 2 brothers: Reggie and John; and 4 sisters: Eleanor Stock, Grace McGraw, Florence Singleton, and Dorothy Leonard.

Stanley was a 1941 graduate of Morrison Cove High School, and received an associate degree from the Scranton Technical School. He was a US Army Air Corps Veteran, serving in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII with the 2004th Ordinance Maintenance Company, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. Stanley was employed by Valley Rural Electric, Martinsburg, retiring in 1984 after 38 years of service.

Stanley attended Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church for many years, and was a past Morrisons Cove Park Board President. He was an avid deer and small game hunter and was also well-known for growing Christmas trees for the Cove for well over 60 years.

A private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg, with military honors, Pastor Robert A. Russell officiating.
