Stephen C. Ayers, 70, of Martinsburg, passed away, Monday morning, August 15, 2022, at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Donald W. Ayers and Lois A. (Reneker) Ayers-Dick.

Surviving are a sister, Beverly A. Phillips of Roaring Spring; a brother: Gary W. “Doc” Ayers (Kitrina) of Martinsburg; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry D. “Beak” and Jeffrey A. Ayers; and a sister, Linda D. Heverly.

Stephen was a 1969 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg and 1971 graduate of Hiram G. Andrews Center in Johnstown.  He was employed at Cove Shoe Factory, Martinsburg, from 1971-1974, before starting his own lawn care business around Martinsburg.

He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Church of Christ, rural Martinsburg and more recently attended St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg.  Stephen was an extremely generous person who loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Friends will be received from 10:30am until noon, Thursday, August 18, 2022 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a funeral service will follow at noon, Pastor Timothy Guyer officiating.  Private interment will be held at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
