Thomas L. Bookhammer, 82, resident at Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Williamsburg, went home to be with his Lord, late Monday morning at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring.

He was born in Ganister, rural Williamsburg, son of the late Wilson M. and Alice M. (Yingling) Bookhammer. He married Ruth N. Knepp on October 25, 1952 at the Williamsburg Church of God.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years; 2 daughters: Vevala A. McCutcheon (husband, Joseph) of Skelp, Dennetta S. Snyder (husband, Dean) of rural Hollidaysburg; a son, Dale A. (wife, Donna) of Williamsburg; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 6 brothers: Walter Aurant of Huntingdon, Bernard, George, Ronald, and David Bookhammer all of Williamsburg, and Donald of Roaring Spring; 5 sisters: Marjorie Novander of Lockport, IL, Darlene Simmons, Eileen Nichols, and Dottie DuBois all of Williamsburg, and Alma Eastep of Martinsburg.

Tom attended high school in Williamsburg, and was a longtime member of the former Williamsburg Church of God, now the Grace Pointe Community Church.

He served after high school in the PA National Guard, then joined the United States Army and finished his military service in the U.S. Navy.

Tom retired in 1987 from Holtzinger Farms, Hollidaysburg, and was a dairy and pig farmer for many years.

He was involved in many farm organizations and served in various roles, and most people may remember Tom for saying “Good Morning” no matter what time of day it was.

Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg and from 10am until the 11am, funeral service, Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Grace Pointe Community Church, Williamsburg, Bishop Dennis J. Pruitt officiating. Interment with military honors accorded by the Blair County Veteran’s Honor Guard will be held at Oreminea Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to his church.
