Thomas Anderson “Andy” Freyer, 57, Martinsburg, passed away Sunday morning at his home.

He was born in Punxsutawney, son of Isaac Anderson and Lois Jean (Weber) Freyer. His father, Isaac preceded him in death. Andy married Peggy S. Wright on June 4, 1983 in Fort Smith, AK.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 33 years; his mother of Philadelphia; a son, Matthew Anderson Freyer (Sarah) of Martinsburg; a daughter, Katie M. Freyer (fiancé Mark Zimmerman) of Gatesburg; 2 grandchildren: Sadie Mai Freyer and Brantley J. Zimmerman; 2 brothers: James (Gloria) of Clearfield and David (Kathy) of Guthrie, KY; 3 sisters: Lois Donmoyer (Walter) of Kylertown, Apryle Barrett (Randy) of Bell’s Landing, and Jane Seaburn (Dan) of Curwensville.

Andy was a 1978 graduate of Curwensville Area High School and was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of Operation Desert Storm, serving in the 317th Engineer Battalion, attaining the rank of specialist with a total of 9 years of service.

Andy was currently employed as a mechanic and truck driver with Forshey’s Ag & Industrial, Martinsburg.

He was an active member of the D. Merl Tipton V.F.W. Post 43, Martinsburg and also volunteered at the VA Hospital, Altoona. Andy was a strong supporter of various veteran organizations and causes and had traveled numerous times to assist at Arlington Cemetery with Wreaths across America.

Andy loved spending time with his grandchildren and also enjoyed hunting, spending time in the outdoors, and collecting 1/64th scale farm toys.

Friends will be received from 5-8 pm, Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the church with Pastor Judith E. Simonson officiating.

Interment with full military honors will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to the National Desert Storm War Memorial or Wreaths across America.
