Vada M. Stern

March 30, 1938 ~ February 13, 2025

Vada M. Stern, 86, of Martinsburg and currently a resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, passed away Thursday morning, February 13, 2025 at the home.

She was born in Woodbury, daughter of the late John and A. Lenora (Smith) Imler.  On June 3, 1977 she married Donald E. Stern and he preceded her in death on April 10, 1989.

Surviving are three daughters: Barbara “Babs” Detwiler (Vaughn) of Saxton, Linda A. Keller (Ralph) of Martinsburg and Lou Ann Pipher (Joel) of Mechanicsburg; two step-children: Connie Shaw (Eric) of Duncansville and Donnie Stern (Robin) of Martinsburg; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a brother, Daniel Imler of Loysburg; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Ralph, Donnie and Levi Imler; and two sisters: Anna Jane Corle and Lydia Parshall.

Vada was a 1956 graduate of Woodbury High School and worked for many years as the head cook at the Roaring Spring Elementary School.

She was a longtime member of the Martinsburg Brethren in Christ Church and also a member of the Garver Y.M.C.A. Silver Sneakers.

Vada loved spending time with her family and was avid dog lover.  She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, completing Sudoku puzzles and was an excellent seamstress.

Friends will be received from 5:30 until 7pm, Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a funeral service will begin at 7pm, Pastor Earl Herr officiating.  Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
