William R. Anderson, 79, a resident at Altoona Center for Nursing Care, formerly of Williamsburg, died Sunday afternoon at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Williamsburg, son of the late Cloyd E. Sr., and Dorothy Marie (Royer) Anderson. On January 28, 1995, he married Ruth E. Helsel at Canoe Creek Brethren in Christ Church and she preceded him in death on February 22, 2014.
Surviving are two brothers: Cloyd E. Jr. and wife, Jane, of Martinsburg and Donald M. and wife, Elaine, of Williamsburg; two nieces; two nephews; two great-nieces; and a great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph E.
William was a graduate of Williamsburg High School. He retired as a custodian from Williamsburg High School in November 1994 with more than 20 years of service. Prior to that, he had worked at Westvaco in Williamsburg.
He was a member of Canoe Creek Brethren in Christ Church.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, Pastor Betty J Royer officiating. Private interment will be held at Salem Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
